Resident in the castle was a room for an ancient creature that was referred to as a "Demi-Lich" by the Githyanki. Thus a trip to the Astral Plane was in order. After some brief negotiation, the extraplanar beings agreed to transport the party to the plane. They wanted nothing to do with the building itself, but would assist them in getting there and back.
There was one problem yet to be handled prior to leaving for the castle. What to do about Teal? It seems that this arrogant, power hungry Drow woman was pushing a bit too hard to be the top dog, even with the evil party. A show down of sorts occurred, and many harsh words were tossed about trying to find the line where her authority ends and the groups begins. Ursula, egged on by the other group leaders, finally took on the mantle of leadership and argued with the head mistress of the Drow communities. Sid and Rod provided strong backup to her front position.
There were many issues, including the fact that the older Drow mistress, Daliah, still had more powers than she was letting on. This was an almost sure sign that there was power coming from some other deity. The lines were eventually drawn at the point of where the religion itself starts. The group is responsible for the direction of the religion's development and Teal remains unchallenged in control of the Drow nations and their support of the religion. In matters of social relevance Teal's word is it, but where religious issues begin, the party has the say. This opinion was, of course, backed up by the ability to go Gug.
The group left Jesper and headed for a gate set up by the Githyanki. They reached the Astral plane and were led to the location of the Castle. There the went on their own into the building. It was amazingly immaculate for a reportedly abandoned and uncared for construction. They found out from several Astral inhabitants that the place was not totally without residents. From time to time lights could be seen and sounds heard from inside the castle walls. Never, though, from inside the castle istelf. They entered the castle courtyard and immediately found themselves beset upon by scores of undead. The battle raged on for quite some time, but they emerged well and headed for the entrance to the interior of the building.
