The leaders of the evil party began to investigate further the meaning and purpose of the Soulless One. It became quickly obvious that the creature had some divine goal. This made the discovery of new readable pages in the Necronomicon somewhat expected. What they found, however, was not exactly what was expected. Yes, there was Khellek's deciphering of what the Possession spell is "really" supposed to do. This came as no surprise, except that no one is sure whether this is a spell for cleric's or wizard's. What they also found was another page of somewhat cryptic text and a spell called Locate Amulet.
The female Drell discovered last time arrived at Jesper to meet with the party and see the minions. She bore a private message for Daliah that was received in good spirits and introduced herself as Teal, a fighter/wizard and ancient historian. She had many tid bits of info that she could share, including some background on the Elder sign, Llolth and John Drake. Her opinions gave credence to the idea of performing the Locate Amulet spell in Gug form. Apparently the amulet is needed to in some way for the religion to be renewed. This spell from the book would locate it. Sid and Ursula combined in to Gug form to cast the spell and were able to identify its' location as the castle in Midway.
While still in Gug form they went to visit the children in the temple. To everyone's surprise, it began gibbering wildly. The magic wielding people hurriedly rushed to cast Tongues spells to understand him. A conversation then took place about what he is and what he is there for. The creature's name IS the Soulless One and his job is to guard the host. His is the honor of performing the greatest of all tasks (which he did not explain fully). When why his first word was "Khellek", he responded that that name was lasting impression on its' being.
Slade had been trying to find out what had happened to him and several others when they were whisked away to fight for evil creatures on another plane against some of their friends. He sought help in the Elven Hills and found it in Kayla, daughter of King Humbold and a Magic-User. With the help of the sages in town, they discovered some sort of tap link on his Silver Cord, usually found only when traveling the outer planes. They took this knowledge to SD for his opinion. The conversation turned to one of action. Those whose cords were in jeopardy, of which there were 12 including Ox Baker, Agammemnon and Yosh Schmenge, should go and try to resolve the problem by adventuring to the Astral plane. SD was able to assist the effort by gaining help from Bahamut to get the adventurers to the plane.
The best news for the forces of good came in the form of new alliances. SD made contact with Bahamut, the Platinum dragon, on the Elemental plane of Air. An old debt would be repaid and the battle joined when the war starts as Bahamut and his court of 9 Gold dragons would join in when the war started.
Joram brought more good news. He had been in the process of helping his small orange friends, the Oompa Lloompa's, when he had cause to have discussions with the old Bard, and current entrepreneur, Righty. Joram was able to convince him that his help could be exceedingly useful in the coming war and Righty offered his resources to help. Further, he offered to come and join the fight himself.
A battle was planned as the Drow wanted to push their advantage further in to the dwarven kingdom of Al-Alin. The last attack was vicious and completely successful, save for the loss of Frank Castle. It seemed a good time to press the issue further. Bohica was sent south to the kingdom of Simbala, once on the side of good, now somehow turned evil. Here he would be placed in charge of two forces. The first, two contingents of Elven warriors, and the second, a unit of Svirfneblin warriors and their support artillery, two ballistae. From Simbala he was to push north to the dwarven kingdom and hit and run as many of the outposts he could reasonably destroy.
The dwarves of Al-Alin had found out that there was to be an attack. Patrick O'Furniture arrived to lead the army in to battle. They would not be caught short this time and sent a strong fighter unit accompanied by two light catapults. Their fortunes were good ones as they met up with two units of the newest ally, the White Ninja led by Chiun, just before engaging the evil hoarde.
The battle was engaged in a valley area north of Simbala as the two forces set up on opposite hilltops. Bohica ordered a charge and the evil forces moved to attack. The battle was engaged and both sides archer units rained arrows upon their rival. Their attacks were vicious and devastating. Combined with the power of the heavy artillery, warriors on both sides dropped quickly. Bohica led his unit of elves up the opposite hill to engage the Bushi warriors attacking with bows, but his unit was destroyed as they charged. Bohica was left unconscious on the field. Meanwhile, the elven archers were decimating the unit of Ninja led by Chiun, who was charging a ballista to remove it from the battle. Chuin was left critically wounded, but alive. He escaped in to the nearby stand of trees to recover.
The battle ended soon after, but not without a large number of dwarves being destroyed in a charge to kill the last of the evil archers. The archers were eventually wiped out by the deadly accuracy of the catapult units, but not before Patrick was also severely wounded.
The battle being concluded, the dwarves and ninja scoured the battle field to clean up the remains. What they found was Bohica, who, after recovering consciousness, decided to surrender. What he did not count on was the evil leaders being able to know what happened and find him where he was. This they were able to do and mentally attacked him using the Elder sign while in Gug form assisted by the group of leaders (Daliah, Dion, Teal and Raul), causing him to lose his sanity and eventually destroying his brain. Chuin attempted to get the body back to wizards or clerics that could help revive the body or at least speak with it. But his group was attacked by two wizards, Sid and Raul, who were aided by the Drow mother Daliah, that destroyed what remained of the body with fireballs. They apparently had more magic at their disposal, and were able to teleport away before any other attacks could happen.
