Joram Farstrider sent word ahead to let Vaclav know about his squire's death. Who then rode out to meet the body and escort it back to town giving it a "hero's" procession as requested by Joram. When they came in to town, a large crowd gathered and many bards joined in. Several of them were told of the tale of Jeldi's, death. There were several songs written about his heroism, much to the chagrin of Ferraud. The tale of the good guys defeat was not a positive story to rally support for the coming war effort. After a brief discussion with one of the bards where he experienced a catharsis relating his own story, Ferraud decided to drop the issue.
Joram visited Ferraud to show him the war has started and that the first victim's have been claimed by both sides. The head of Frank Castle was offered as a sign of his committment to the cause. Somehow, Ferraud's reaction was not quite what was expected. Another arguement ensued about the coming war and the two then went to SD's to debrief him on the events. (DM's Note: This conversation will take place when Mike is available, details to follow)
The Christian church recieved a large donation from an "unnamed" source to build a cathedral in Midway. The church will be called The Sacred Heart of Camo.
Ferraud bought a small wood frame house as a "permament" home.
The Evil party made preparations to visit the town of Fetund. Apparently there was rumor of a Revenant roaming the location and this was as good a place as any to start the collection of items for the third ceremony. A group consisting of Rod, Willard, Sid, Bohica, Ursula and Dion headed out. They found signs of a large number of "military type" passings in the fields between the Drow town of Jesper and Fetund that were presumed to be from the Dwarves or Elves. The town of Fetund had prepared for battle as well, placing battlements and make-shift defenses around the city to prevent any unwanted intrusion. The group was allowed to enter and arranged to meet Sven Larrsson at his restaurant. At the eatery, Ursula was offered a nice glass of blood from a 12 year old elf. She gladly accepted and somehow appeared to physically change. She was definitely becoming Vampiric.
Sven arrived and discussed the group's goals. When asked, he offered the information about the Revenant residing in the town graveyard. He also was able to help with some information about the component list and where some of these things might be found. The Demi-Lich victim at a castle on the Astral plane in the old Castle of Darkness, and a Night Hag somewhere in Clifftown on the coast. With this info in hand, the group asked what his interest was in the war. Sven informed them that he would stand to benefit from an evil victory, and he has known about this religion since before the first Alliance war. Rod and Sid asked if he would fight for them, or Sid asked if could he supply an army of undead for the battle. Sven said he could and asked for the Elven Hills as his payment for services. The matter was put aside for consideration until the next day.
The group went to the graveyard where the Revenant was. The yard was run down and in disrepair. They cautiously entered and investigated. When halfway in the cemetary, skeletons emerged from the graves to attack. Ursula was able to turn a large group almost immediately and the battle took shape. The fighters engaging the larger number of skeletons. Willard instinctively changed to Were-Rat form for the first time and performed like a rodent possessed, killing everything that moved. Then a wave of Fear overcame the party as Sid and Dion were effected. Sid got into a tiff with Ursula in an attempt to gain Gug form to ensure his safety and Dion retreated to the safety of the upper limbs of a nearby tree. At that point, the Skeleton Warrior atop his Skelton War Horse emerged from the Crypt. The battle was joined by all capable hands.
Bohica was first there and began the battle. He went for the mount attempting to even the playing field, but found the horse formidable as well as offensively potent on its own. Willard was unnaturally aged by its clapping hoof attack. The mount took immense damage before falling and throwing its rider who was slashing away at Bohica the whole time. As the group had finally all engaged the warrior, a creature emerged from the darkness and attacked Rod, clasping a hand around his throat, attempting to choke the life from his body. It was some form of woman that they saw, all except Dion, who saw it for the dead sight of Max Damage. The creature declared to Rod that "If I can't have my bitch sister, I'll kill you". The Skeleton Warrior was now engaged with Willard who was artfully evading its attacks and returning heavy hits on the target. Rod attempted to pry the hand from his throat, but was unable and now there was a hand clasped around the throat of Dion, who had joined to help Rod.
Then the battle turned as Bohica, who near death himself, backed away from the warrior and began to hurl headstones at it. With his increased strength from his belt, the projectiles were deadly, finally dealing the "killing" blow. This released all those still struck with fear and left only one target to destroy. That target was just choking the life from Rod as Sid used a Magic Missile on it and Willard finished it off with a charge from his halberd. The creature exploded into dust that settled to the ground. Story over, not yet. Willard was still in beserker rage as a were-rat and began to attack the party. After a couple of rounds inflicting damage on the group, he was subdued and helped back to his senses. The group filled two vials with the dust from the creature and also found an amulet amidst the remains that they took.
Turning to previous matters, they returned to the hotel room they were using and tried to determine if the deal with the vampire was ok. Using Augury spells, they interpreted the messages as saying the deal was a good one and they set out to bargain with Sven. The final deal struck involves Sven providing and army of undead for the large battle that consists of primarily Zombies, with some Ghouls, Shadows and Vamires for added power. He offered the group 5,000 gold for the amulet, which he identified as a Skeleton Warrior gem, now devoid of its power since the warrior had been destroyed. The party then returned to Jesper with their goods to decide where to go next.
