Rollin Hand's party set sail to return to the mainland after a profitable run through the 10,000 islands, albeit cut short. The take was divided up, as well as treasure offered up for purchase as part share. Each member of the party received 10,000 gold pieces for their share. The hired ship's crew paid for their time, morale was high and sailing time short on the way home.

When they returned to port at Talos, the group settled in for a day or so and handled some personal business. The larger group of characters going to a local Alchemists shop at the request of Hurricaine Highlander to purchase a variety of potions at a negotiated cut rate price. Hurricaine had some other plans on his mind (including organizing his own trip back to the islands). He discussed the possibility of trying to discover how to make the explosive putty he had gotten while in the islands. The alchemist did not know about this material but agreed to have Hurricaine as a financial partner while he researched the item. He also bought a potion to help Molly during her pregnancy. This was not received well, but then again, Molly doesn't receive anything well. She has been even more testy since she became pregnant. Further, she made Rollin's day when she announced that she was going to have her family in to help during this difficult time. Rollin has been making plans to be out of the house often.

The group then high-tailed it south to Midway where many characters returned to their homes. Some bought new places for themselves with their recent windfall. S.D. became a center of attention for a brief time as many characters came back to fill him in on what has happened or to discuss issues. Rollin Hand came to deliver some of the black adamantium that he had agreed to bring back. he also discussed the creatures they found in the dome, what they looked like and what happened when they were there. This was not good news for S.D.. Unfortunately, Rollin did not find any piece of the sword he had also been trying to find. Oolst came to discuss the hot metal that was used to make his battle axe. S.D. told him that the metal is dangerous to his health, is not cursed and was definitely not magical. They then agreed that maybe Oolst should go to his church to pray for inspiration on how to handle this weapon. Lastly, Chiun approached and announced himself as a liason and negotiator for the White Ninja. The organization would like to fight against the new evil religion and would discuss terms for an alliance to put down this threat. A bit of discussion went back and forth, but never got to an agreement other than S.D. saying he would accept their assistance. Negotiations for the terms are still ongoing.

Ferraud was not happy to hear about the new creatures in the world and went to find Oolst to hear about what was going on. The pack of holy men (including Bannor, Jeldi, Gwen, Jockbar, Ferraud, Max, and Vaclav) discussed the creatures and the new battle axe. Ooolst, however, suggested they talk to the party leaders to find out more. Since Ferraud doesn't really like Rollin, they decided to roust Hurricaine. A bit paranoid at 7 cavalier and paladin coming to see him in the middle of the night, Hurricaine spilled his guts over a beer and managed to put the blame for much of this on Oolst and his glowing battle axe. Back to Oolst they went to have further discussions. Gwen was able to reasonably resolve what had happened and also healed some of the burn damage on Oolst's back in the process. Further information was gathered from Jurgen Prochnow when they went to see him to find out more about the axe. He gave them more information about the final result on the detruction of the evil creatures' home island. An agreement was made to join the fight against the creatures. Ferraud was pleased to hear that most of the things were killed, but the battle must now be joined.

It was during this that Raifer was making contacts and arranging to join the outpost forces as a scout. He was to leave immediately. Additionally, two leaders were needed to command an outpost on the Dwarven/Drow border to help defend against raiding parties. Jeldi and Jhoram volunteered and left immediately. They were put in charge of forces of Dwarves (from Al-Alin), Elves (from the Elven Hills) and a force of Rangers (from the Forest of Ages).

On the Darker Side...

Meanwhile, the evil party held its' first unholy ceremonial rite. With the blessing of the Drow matriarch and the knowledge of a new spell from the book (a reversal of Exorcise called Possess), Sidnaceous and Ursula agreed to attempt to create a demon spawn child. They cast several spells to help their fertility, made love on the consecrated altar, used additional spells to assist in conception, cast the new spell of Possession on the affected area and then merged in to Gug form. The next day a divination was cast on Ursula to attempt to find out if they were successful. Preliminary results indicate she is pregnant. The group then was called together by the matriarch and volunteers were requested to command a raiding party to destroy a Dwarven outpost that has been stopping many of their raiding forays. Rod Usher and Frank Castle stepped up and were put in command of forces of Drow (from Extopol) and Githyanki (from the Astral Plane).

And so they fall...

The evil forces came charging out of the brush at the foremost defended position. The elves had sighted them early and given themselves some time to react. The dwarves led by Jeldi raced to assist the outnumbered Elves. Unfortunately, the evil forces moved much too quickly and had assailed the forward summit and also cut off the Dwarves before they could arrive. The remainder of the evil forces swarmed around the hill top and headed for the outpost itself. The battle was engaged and the evil forces had the upper hand except for the elite force of Elven Archers perched atop the hill crest. Their first two volleys of arrows took out the small Drow magic-user force and boosted their morale. On came the evil forces and the battle between the forward Elves and Githyanki went badly for the Elves. Also, the Dwarves led by Jeldi were greatly overmatched by themselves and had to fall back repeatedly. The Ranger force, led by Jhoram came rushing from the trees (where they had anticipated some attack) and joined the battle from a distance, raining arrows on the Drow forces. The Dwarves were pushed back and retreated as Jeldi ordered them to pull back to save their lives. The Rangers seemed to turn the tide for the defenders until the forces climbing the hill made it to the top and engaged the Elves on the hill, removing their advantageous position to shoot arrows down on them. The forward position then fell to the Githyanki and this additional force raced on towards the outpost. As the forces required rallying and command, Jhoram and Jeldi were able to spot Rod leading the force of Githyanki. Jeldi decided to try to take on the leader and charged his war horse towards the Anti-Paladin. Luck was not his when he dropped his lance in the charge and was quickly hurt badly by Rod. He retreated away to regroup. Jhoram joined the fight and tried to engage Rod, but he wanted no part of the high level Ranger. His parting shot was at Jeldi with one last poisoned Kapar, which not only found its' mark, but finished off the fledgeling cavalier. While this was going on, Frank Castle had led his group of Drow up the hill, assailed the outpost, and had begun to overrun the lesser force of Dwarves that had been left behind as the last line of defense. He then split off from the unit and climbed the structure. Coming across the roof for a sneak attack on Jhoram. His poisoned arrow missed the mark and fire was returned. Jhoram did not miss, ironically, with his stolen Drider hand crossbow. The poison on the bolt instantly paralyzed Frank on the roof. With Rod mingling back in to his military unit, Jhoram scaled the building and finished off the assassin, Frank Caslte, removing the head and taking his possessions.

The outpost had been routed and the evil forces were in control, but some serious blows had been inflicted on their personnel. The first two player characters in war combat were dead and the evil side will look at this as a millitary victory. The Dwarves and Elves will now need to reinforce their defenses
