In three days, word made it back to the outpost regarding the developments found out in the woods. The message was...."Send help, there's trouble out here". And Raifer moved quickly to respond. He dispatched word of what he had out to Al-Alin to inform them and then he rounded up a second wave of support to send out for assistance. Justin, Garan, Warrex, Alydra and Indigo were teamed up and sent to the site. It would take them another 2 plus days to return.

Meanwhile, the group deceided to explore around a bit to get more of the lay of the land. A search party was formed (a la "Let's split up") and they scanned around the areas of the woods north and south of the area they had already seen, staying clear of the area that seemed marked off by whatever these creatures were. Books, Marci and Seladon went out scouting. They searched for two days, a half day out and back in each direction. In both trips they found areas marked by a spear with a head staked in to the ground. The heads were a cross between a human and a lion and were adult man sized. The blood found around the heads were estimated to be a few days old. On the second day they also found another of the makeshift woods camps like the one they had previously stayed at with the drow. But this one was empty and they decided to investigate it. Books found a few covered pits that were being used to store goods and supplies. And while most of the material found in the holes were basic supplies, in one bag he found another medallion that was identical to the one that was taken from them by the Drow. So Books took it.

When they returned to camp they talked about burying the symbol where they were, but that idea gave way to the idea of getting the symbol back to the main outpost. Nord was dispatched to take the symbol quickly in a barbarian long distance run. Away he ran expecting to meet up with the reinforcements on their way to the camp. What was the surprise was that the medallion was found in Books pouch, even though they were positive they put it in the bag that was given to Nord. The group was now convinced that the item was cursed and the relief party made the decision to double time out to the camp.

When they arrived at the camp, the medallion became the topic of discussion. Garan, who is a student of Ancient History, recognized the symbol on the item as being a relief of the ancient gods of Cthulhu. They also attempted a Detect Evil on the item and found that it was overpowering in its aura. And as that night fell, the party spotted the odd man sized flying creatures over head once again. They also noticed that Books was behaving a little oddly, but they couldn't put a definite finger on it. They made to defend their position.

They party did not have to wait long as a volley of hand crossbow bolts flew past the group with one striking Justin, dropping him to the ground. A second wave flew past and with that, Marci looked up in to the trees and spotted the Drow levitating up in the tree canopy firing down upon them. Garan and Books cast Bless spells to aid the group and the Drow zoomed down from their higher position to engage the party. Warrex charged and attacked.

The battle began and attacks were exchanged between the two sides when the camp fire the group had set up burst in to a larger fireball of an explosion when the Drow Wizardess cast a spell at it. The fire knocked back and down Magenta and Leonard, burning them. Garan then cast a Light spell up in to the trees so that they could all see the enemies and there they saw 6 Drow. Now their ranged wepons would be as effective as the Drow. Alydra, Marci and Magenta all fired and hit their targets as well as Marci taking a hit.

The battle moved quickly and Indigo moved to defned himself with a Mirror Image spell. Ruurik found himself unarmed as his axe fell from his hands and broke while Nord engaged and struck a critical hit to the leg of his opponent. Marci and Alydra combined on several bow shots on a Drow closing in on Marci and finally dropped it as it reached Marci.

The Drow were not going to go quietly and the Wizardess cast a Magic Missile that struck and knocked down Garan. And the other spell caster sent some incantation at Warrex who shrugged off whatever effect it was to have but dropped his weapon as he followed up with an attack. Marci and Alydra then turned their bow shots at the two spell casters, only to see their shots deflect away by some magical shield spell. Magenta attempts to shoot as well, only to have her bow string break while shooting. Seladon moved to Justin and aided him with a Neutralize Poison, which brought him around.

The battle began to turn then as the drow warriors had trouble with their weapons. Two of them dropped their weapons and one, who was engaged with Warrex, had the weapon break. But not all of the drow were having trouble and Ruurik was becoming a bit of a punching bag as his attacker struck him a severe blow, but he stayed standing and gave back more hits. The Wizardess then cast a Fireball at the groups spell casters, Indigo and Garan. Garan fell down and Indigo's Mirror Images were dispelled, but Indigo was left unscathed as his Armor spell absorbed the bulk of the damage. The other drow caster sent a spell at Nord this time, but he also shrugged off the attempt and then struck at his attacker.

And now the encounter got odd as the creature they were about to hunt came charging out of the woods from behind the Drow looking to attack. Not knowing whether this was good or bad Marci and Justin fired bow shots at the creature, hitting it. But the creature seemed to ignore their shots, moving quickly to charge at the Drow with his large spear.

The battle continued and Nord dropped his opponent with a last attack, Ruurik was struck hard again and was now in bad shape. Indigo looked to down the Drow casters and sent an Aganaver's Scorcher at the Wizardess who sent her own spell, a Whip of Pain at Indigo. The Whip spell had the effect of incapacitating Indigo. Garan attempted to cast a spell, but it failed and Warrex, who had no weapon in hand, used his hand to hand skills and punched his drow enemy and dropped it. Garan moved to enter the battle again with a Spiritual Whip on the Wizard. Combined with the lasting effects of Indigo's spell, the Drow spell caster fell dead.

As the drow were dropping, Marci continued to fire at the new creature who completed his charge in to the remaining drow, skewering one on his spear. The remaining Drow then began to flee. Marci continued firing at the creature, scoring a critical hit. Ruurik, engaged with one of the last drow, took a serious blow and fell and then the Drow turned to flee. But this drow would not get away as the creature leaped past all party members and rended the fleeing drow with it's claws. But one of the drow did escape. The second spell caster, who was still levitating in the tree tops had made his way out of sight and away.

The group moved to heal Ruurik, who was revived successfully. Following this, a discussion ensued with the strange creature, who had stopped his aggressive ways once all the drow were gone. The creature agreed to a diplomatic discussion with the leaders of the outpost and set the time as one week from then at his home. With that, it was gone back in to the woods.

With the situation in hand, the group set off back for the outpost, but Books was now behaving in an obvioulsy odd manner. Almost as if the party was unknown to him or was his enemy. His paranoia was running rampant. He attempted to escape, but was run down by the group and brought back. They made double time as best they could back to the outpost. When they arrived, Books was almost completely lost to them. He raced for his bunk and hid under the bed. Raifer gathered up all the information he could and sent word back to Al-Alin for assistance.
